Effect of Partial Ligation of the Abdominal Aorta on the Glomerular Filtration Rate

Abstract
Effect of partial ligation of the abdominal aorta on the glomerular filtration rate (inulin clearance) was observed in 17 male rabbits. Abdominal aorta was ligated to one-half of its original lumen at the level just above branching of the right renal artery under nembutal anesthesia.
Seventeen rabbits were observed 30 minutes before the partial ligation. 30 minutes and g0 minutes after the partial ligation. The folldwing result¢¥s *ere obtained.
1. In 15 rabbits among them inulin clearance was 1.020.90 ml/min(Mean+S. D. ) or 0.520.46 ml/ min/kg in average.
2. In 16 rabbits inulin clearance observed¢¥ 30 minutes after ligation was decreased markedly to 0, 46 0.58 ml/min or 0.230.29 ml/min/kg in average.
3. In 14 rabbits inulin cleiance abserved 90 minutes after ligation was decreased slightly to 0.77 0.79 mllaiiin or 6.400:38 thl/min jkg in average, suggesting that its findings were occured by autoregulatory process of the kidney:
